About

Lauren Hershey is an aspiring professional deeply interested in (and intrigued by) security studies; conflict resolution; international development; reforming educational systems; empowering parents; and creating lasting collective impact through social entrepreneurship, innovative models, and sustainable practice.

Author“The Unconventional Pragmatist” was founded for the purpose of advocating cross-professional, inter-disciplinary conversations– with the hopes that increased awareness of seminal research, innovation, and methodology within the realms of education, business, and conflict resolution will lead to a more productive vision of solutions to shared problems.

UP further aims to challenge the boundaries of conflict resolution, education, and business practice by beseeching professionals to examine the groundwork of parenting (especially during the first 6 years of a child’s life) in establishing a foundational basis for tolerance, counter-terrorism and resistance of violence, cultural understanding, and durable empathy for fellow human beings.

When searching for answers, remember to be unconventional… for George Bernard Shaw once put it,

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.”

Let us all, then, aspire to be unreasonable together to drive collective change!
